Cleanup efforts are expensive and often face challenges in locating garbage patches that keep drifting under the influence of ocean currents. Wikilimo uses satellite imagery to detect major garbage patches in oceans around the world. With the help of numerical models for ocean currents and machine learning based optimisation techniques, we are able to identify the optimum routes for cleanup.
